*WPS* We would like to thank the community for showing up today and helping find a use for so many things. Since we got cleaned out today, we will NOT be open for the community tomorrow, 6/4, as nothing is left. Thank you again!!

*WPS* FREE ITEMS, NOTHING FOR SALE!! Staff have been cleaning out, and there are a lot of items too good to throw away. The community is welcome to come and take items in the gym, such as books, games, educational activities, etc. There is no furniture at this time. WPS will be open for the public on 6/3, Monday 9 am-3 pm, and 6/4, Tuesday 9 am-2 pm.

*WPS* Parents, your student's report card was sent home with them today. Please be sure to check their backpack. Please call the school with any questions 719-254-7681.

**WPS and JIS** Parents, if your child has an inhaler or meds at school, they will be sent home on Thursday, May 30th. If your student will not be at school that day, the inhalers and medicine need to be picked up before Friday, May 31st or they will be disposed of. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse at either building.

**JIS** Jefferson Intermediate Awards Assembly will be held on Thursday, May 30th beginning at 8:30am. The assembly will be held outside by the south gym wall. All family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend. Seating is limited, so please feel free to bring your own chair. If you have any questions, please contact the school.

**WPS and JIS** Field Day for both buildings is next week. JIS Field Day is 5/28 (5th & 6th grade start at 8:30am and 3rd & 4th grade start at 12:30pm) and WPS Field Day is 5/29 (Events start at 9:30am for all students). Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please remember that if you take your child out of school for lunch or any other reason, they MUST be signed out at the office. If they return and are not signed back in, they will be marked as absent, unexcused. If you have any questions, please contact the schools.

Animal Science students held their yearly Burger Bash on May 21st. This is the Grand Finale to Meat Science Boot Camp and the Animal Science course. Each student created a burger in hopes of winning 1st place in the Burger Bash. This year, ten students shared their creations with judge, Mr. Sean Mc Names (RFJSHS Asst. Principal and Athletic Director). Cayson Van Dyk served as Grill Master. Marlena Griesse, Youth Development Specialist and Animal Science Instructor, Teresa Walz work together throughout the year to give students many hands-on experiences. Winners of the 2024 Burger Bash were: 1st Place: Hansel (Omar) Ocana with his burger The Grid-Iron. 2nd Place went to Haylee Encinias with her Bacon BBQ Bliss Burger. 3rd Place was Deagan Bryson with his burger aptly named The Firecracker. People's Choice Award went to Nayoka Torrez with her delicious American Meats Italian Burger. Burgers were judged for appearance, creativity, flavor, presentation, and their written burger description. Other students and their burger creations were: Quianna Ruiz - The Masterpiece, Hazen Bamber - Bucking Bull Burger, Ashlynn Hancock - The Ultimate Homestyle Country Burger, Cruz Vallejos - Beast of the Southeast Burger, Kalysta Mason - Maneater Burger and Deja Warman - Burger Paradise.

All Rocky Ford School District Parents: We will be having a joint Accountability Meeting tonight at 6:00pm in the new Cafeteria located at the Jr/Sr High School Building. We will be sharing the schedules and answering any questions that you may have regarding the combining of Elementary and Secondary on to one campus.

DONUTS FOR GROWNUPS - Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade parents/guardians, please join us tomorrow morning at WPS from 8-9 am to read with your child and enjoy a donut.

Rocky Ford FFA's Tyler Fehrenbach was selected as president of the San Isabel District V FFA. Tyler will preside over all district meetings and be instrumental in planning and organizing all district activities. Rocky Ford FFA advisors Teresa Walz and Wyatt Mincic will serve as district advisors for the upcoming year.


Rocky Ford FFA's Ag Mechanic Team won 1st place at the district level and 12th at the regional level. Individually at district Hansel (Omar) Ocana won 1st place and Alex Marchand-Fierro was 3rd. The team is coached by Advisor Wyatt Mincic.
