Due to the possibility of snow in Peyton on Saturday, we have decided to move the basketball game up a day. RFHS basketball will play in Peyton on Friday, February 2 with JV Boys beginning at 1:00pm.

RFSD would like to notify parents about a disruption to cell service in the area. Due to this disruption, if you call the schools from a cell phone you will receive a busy signal. With the cold temperatures coming, Rocky Ford School District is pleased to provide an update on the heating issue at Jefferson School. The boiler system was repaired and the system was functioning well by the end of the day Wednesday. Therefore, the building is ready for the upcoming cold spell with plenty of heat from the regular heating system.

Jefferson School will continue to use temporary heat tomorrow, Wednesday (Jan. 10). If all goes well with the scheduled repair, the boiler system will be turned back on by the end of the day on Wednesday. School will run on the normal schedule for Jefferson on Wednesday. Thursday, Jan. 11, there will not be any school for K-6 students, as scheduled on the academic calendar, in order for elementary teachers to have time to complete the required READ plans.

Rocky Ford School District is aware of the situation at East Otero School District in La Junta but we have not received any messages about threats at this time. We will remain vigilant for anything out of the ordinary.
Rocky Ford School District parents and students, school will be in session tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan. 9) at the regular time. We have temporary heat in place at Jefferson School and are quickly working on a more permanent solution. The music room and gym have their own heat source. A large mobile unit that produces forced air is providing heat for the first and second floor classrooms along with several radiator heaters. The temporary heat will result in temperatures that are more variable than normal from classroom to classroom so students and staff should dress in layers. We are excited to see all of the students after a long break!
Rocky Ford School District is canceling school for today, Jan. 8. There is no heat in the building at Jefferson School due to a boiler issue. With the addition of today's severe weather, all three schools in Rocky Ford will be closed today.
