Rocky Ford School District was selected as an alternate to receive a grant worth more than $40 million to upgrade the school facilities. Community meetings were held in 2019 and a committee worked to develop a vision for the future of Rocky Ford school buildings. The proposed solution would replace Washington and Jefferson schools with an addition to the Junior Senior High School. (The buildings on the Washington and Jefferson campus would all be demolished.) Safety & security as well as the learning needs of students in the 21st century were some of the big influencing factors with the committee's recommendation.
